Create a list of 8 ingredients that could be added to grits (or oatmeal) to improve the taste. Determine a way to randomize which set of ingredients will go in each serving of grits. With 8 ingredients, there are (potentially) 256 different items for the breakfast. Items could be: milk, butter, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins, apple bits, and cocoa powder or chocolate sprinkles. Hmm. Chocolate grits sounds interesting.

Pretty easy. We eat barf and yogurt, with parri-air water. Oh yeah barf should probably be corn beef hash and then also scrambled eggs with cheese dyed puke green or dyed red.

In a parody of our own Star Wars day we serve really good (that's the parody of our previous day) food that normally comes in pairs or is served two to a person. Chicken Breast with a couple of biscuits, 2 small baked potatoes and pears for desert (or something similar).

Everyone watches a scary movie and at some point they get so scared they fling their popcorn or candy into the air; other participants try to catch it so they get more to eat.
(Yeah, not so good - still the best Scary Movie Meal so far and it beats "burnt jiffypop"; it'd be better if I'd seen the movie <g>).

Should you choose to accept it?

Submitted by: Steve D. on Thursday, 02-Nov-00 20:59:41 EST

Served as: Lunch
Cost range: Average
Preparation time: 31 - 60 minutes
Equipment Needs: Moderate
Basics of the meal
Prior to the meal, participants are given a cryptic list of characteristics of good meal components. All parts of the meal are placed in paperbags which are coded to describe their component. At each station in the line, participants are offered a choice of two components and must choose to accept one.
We would probably need non-edible components for the second item. Once everyone was done eating, those who had non-edible components could try again.

Another homage to the Neo's first meal - as he's eating they ask "what if the computer got the taste for this wrong?" What if we did that - the goal is to create food that looks like one thing but tastes like something else altogether. I'm not sure what candidate foods would be but I bet we could come up with a few things. Mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes for example.

Primary Concept: Cuisine,Ambience

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Equipment Needs: Light

The meal consists of something relatively bland and uninviting (like grits or raman noodles) and the participants try to convince each other that they're eating the most wonderful thing they've ever had, sort of an homage to Neo's first meal.

In the movie they have a three- course meal served to them by people. We could have people serve the food. Have table cloths, and candles, and fancy stuff like that. WE could also serve like slurpy soup for the first course. A salad type thing for the second course, and monkey brains (spaghetti) for the third course.

The meal could be handled in one of two ways: either it becomes an Emily Post-style overly polite meal (Mr. X, Miss Y, etc), or it becomes a color-coordinated deal serving plum, mustard, scarlet, white, green, and peacock (whatever that is - blue?)

The bad news? You're about to die
The good news? You get to choose what they put on your tombstone
In this case, we're ripping off the commercial. When called for their turn at Bollmano's, everyone has to fake their own untimely death by whatever means they like. Other participants can judge whether the death was grisly/funny/real/whatever enough and if it wasn't, your turn is skipped.

Of course, in the movie they served hamburgers (with decidedly undesirable side effects for us). We'll settle for a barbecue style meal with perhaps smoked sausage and hot dogs.

We take out the "normal" food from the vending machines and replace it with continental breakfast items. Bonus points if someone can come up with fake coins that will evaporate and leave no evidence of the theft of items (see the movie).

Basically, we try to make some ridiculously large container of popcorn - I'd like to try a 20 or 30 gallon trash can for example over a bonfire - in homage to the end of the movie.

Everytime I think of Mars Attacks, I see that woman with the dog head. How about a meal where we use food to creat that kind of mixed-up juxtaposed looking art? Like a hot dog maybe, with an apple and a face carved in it and then some french fries for legs or something.

Each camper brings a sample of water from some exotic location to mix in the pot. This meal could be combine with another theme. Waters may be bottled or pure, although a filter may be used. Some might think of unusual sources sources, such as a solar still to extract drinking water from sea water or urine.

Basically, when the starting gun sounds, all participants run from a starting line (perhaps their bunk) to their place at the table. They eat breakfast (which should be served already - ie, platefuls of food are pre-measured) and then assemble outside for flag-raising followed immediately by a hike. First one to the pole is the winner and gets to choose the destination of the hike.
