After the Apocalypse
Chapter 90: Careless Whispers
by Mark Bollman--> and Steve Donohue
"Okay Dave, spill it. What else did you guys bring back from town?"
"What do you mean John, you saw what we had."
"Yeah, a half-empty truck full of stuff you'd find in a party store. Where's the hooch?"
"What if I told you it was frozen?"
"I wouldn't believe you. What are you going to do with it?"
"Most of us are adults, I'm... We're planning to have a party and serve some adult beverages."
"Great, so in addition to a bunch of locals, we're going to have to watch out for our own people being drunk."
"Hey! There's no need for that. I don't plan on everyone being drunk. We're just going to relax, have a few drinks and have a good time. It is possible to just have a few you know."
"Well, I'm still not happy about it. What's your plan?"
"We were thinking about making it some sort of semi-formal thing to help control the amount of drinking. Probably a masquerade party of some sort."
That made sense. They had masks for a masquerade during camp. "Who are you inviting and when is the party going to be?"
"It'll be in a couple of days, that way those who don't have masks can make something or borrow one from someone who does. We plan to invite all the goons and the girls."
"And you don't think anyone will notice? Or spill the beans?"
"Well, I hope not. I was hoping you could arrange the guard schedule for us, you know, make sure the guards that night are people who can keep their mouth shut."
"Alright Dave, I'll do it, but I've got a bad feeling about this."
