Paradox Metaphor
Chapter 49 - December 17, 2018
by Steve Donohue

The pod arrived back and no one was inside. Instead, there was a single Oz-vat, with an envelope inside addressed to "Winter Camp Future Society". It was a very odd thing, since they’d never sent a pod out empty and had no idea what it was about. Downes opened the envelope himself and saw that it was just a bunch of old camp photos. He decided to have one of his assistants look into it.

Within a few hours they’d identified the WCFS and some of its members. They were very powerful people and he decided it would be better to get them the photos then to risk their ire. There was also a message written on the back of one photo, but it seemed to be in code of some sort. He eventually arranged to forward the photos to Jeff Rand, a retired Scout Executive who was something of a local celebrity. In fact, there had been some talk of recruiting him at one point but he had declined their offers. Mr. Rand was very pleased to hear about the photos and picked them up personally. There was something oddly familiar about the old man, but Downes couldn’t quite place it.
